Sit with tea and return to simplicity.
Bowl tea is an ancient and humble way of drinking tea: just water, leaves and a bowl held in the palms of your hands. As you sip, you watch the leaves come back to life. Seasoned tea lovers and first timers are equally welcome.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You enter a softly lit room with contemplative music, a hint of incense, and time and space to simply be. You begin by washing your hands, a small ritual that prepares the mind and body to receive tea. Then you settle on the floor around the tea presentation (Chaxi). Chairs are available if you prefer.
Mindy quietly prepares tea while you relax and let the mind rest. After the first bowl, light conversation is welcome, and so is silence. Water is served at the end, and a bow seals the ceremony.
There is nothing to achieve. The ceremony is simply a container for tea, and for the joy of being rather than doing.
WHAT SOME PEOPLE NOTICE OVER TIME
Mind and spirit: more calm, focus, gratitude and presence, deeper acceptance, and fresh insight into yourself and your life.
Body: easier digestion, clearer skin, balanced body temperature, sharper senses.
THE TEAS
Pure loose leaf artisan teas from East and South Asia: green, red, black, oolong and aged.
"Tea is a way home, though not just a place we live. It is a way back to the self, a way to connect back to earth and a way back to the present."
Limited to 7 guests to keep the experience intimate.
