Firestorm France was written by Jökull Gislason and Wayne Turner and is available at this link: (https://www.battlefront-community.com/article/firestorm-blitzkrieg-france-is-here/) Firestorm France is a historical themed event where players will refight the Blitzkrieg invasion of France in 1940 with the opportunity to affect the outcome of events. The goal is to recreate the theme and tempo of that campaign over a 5 turn tournament. Success or failure in each round will affect the overall outcome of the campaign. Firestorm: France is designed to give a historic result but players can affect the outcome.
The tournament will consist of five 100point games, each with a 2:15 minute period of play. Armies can be built from the Flames of War Book: Blitzkrieg: Invasion of France, 1940. Players MAY submit up to three lists designated as "Attack", "Maneuver", and "Defend" based on the stance that army is intended to be used for. Players who are acting as switch hitters that can play red or blue forces may submit up to 3 for each faction. Players must report their readiness to play in each round to their respective Generals to prevent creating chaos in the ranks. If a player drops from a round and does not report to their General their Generals may impose a 2 ticket penalty on that player.
Each faction will have between one to three generals acting to plan and co-ordinate each coming round. Those Generals will assign players to a battle location and pick the stance which those players will use in the upcoming battle. We will have a discussion thread under the event to determine who the Generals will be and to prepare for the event. Generals will need to provide tracking, guidance, and timely table assignments for their factions and for any firestorm troops. Generals do not have to play games if they prefer to be logisticians and organizers. Generals will need to understand and be ready to work through Firestorm: France and should participate in the pre-tournament discussions and play-testing with the other generals. Players who are interested in being generals can throw their hats in the ring for the event in the discussion thread for the generals and we will work out who will act in those roles by mutual agreement. Both General staffs should work together to decide how to handle any Firestorm Troops for the event based on the Firestorm Campaign Briefing. Generals may be relieved of command for cause by their fellow Generals, if it happens during the event this will lead to a -2 ticket penalty for the drawing. This is not intended to be a point of bickering but of keeping the event working and on track.
Players are encouraged to participate but they are NOT required to play in every game if they have other events they would like to participate in at Bourbon City Brawl. The number of rounds players participate in will affect reported standings and their opportunity for prizing (see below). Players must report their Playing or Not Playing status to the Generals as early as possible for each round. Failure to do so may result in a -2 ticket penalty imposed by the General Staff. Any such actions are intended to be disciplinary rather than punitive. This is not intended to be a point of bickering but of keeping the event working and on track.
Our goal is to as much as possible make this a Red Vs Blue event. Players who are able are encouraged to bring a force from both factions to try and even out the total number of players on each side. If there are more players for the Germans or for the French and British then some players may play blue-on-blue games with each player designated as representing one side in the conflict for reporting purposes. In the event there are blue-on-blue games, Players with the worst record who have not already played a blue-on-blue game will be paired with one another to even out the matches.
Players should submit their lists for approval no later than Friday September the 25th. Lists can be submitted to [email protected] Lists will be provided to the appropriate Generals for their planning purposes.
Players should bring 4 copies of each of their list on the day of the tournament, there will be no printer available at the event. One copy will be retained by the player, two copies will be provided to the Generals, one copy will be available to share with their respective opponents.
Players who can are encouraged to bring themed Blitzkrieg France tables to the event. There will be an award for best table, and additional tickets for bringing a table. Please contact the tournament organizer (Chad Underdonk) to declare your intent to bring a table.
Player standings for the tournament will be submitted to Battlerankings. As this is a red vs blue event players will be ranked within their faction based on wins, then points, and should it become necessary strength of schedule. The faction that gets the victory will be ranked with odd numbers, the faction that gets the loss will be ranked with even numbers. EXAMPLE: Germans Win (historical result) players German players A, B, C, and D would be ranked 1,3,5,7. Allied players A, B, C, and D would be ranked 2,4,6,8.
Physical BCB Trophies will be provided for Top Axis player, top Allied player, best sport, and best painted, and best table. If it can be arranged there will be a token of appreciation award for the acting Generals.
BCB Bucks will be awarded by random ticket draw. Bourbon City Bucks must be spent with any of the vendors at the event. There will be a maximum of one award per player. In order to accommodate players who may only attend for one day we will have two drawings...one on Saturday evening after the end of the first day (60% of the prizing), and one on Sunday afternoon after the end of the second day (40% of the prizing). Players must be present at the award drawing to receive a prize.
Each player will receive tickets for the following:
1 ticket - participating in the event
1 ticket - submitting your lists by Friday September 25th
1 ticket - submitting lists and bringing forces for the opposing faction
1 ticket - switching factions to maintain balance during the course of the tournament
1 ticket - Winning 3 or more games
1 ticket - For every game played
1 ticket - 3 Votes for Best Opponent
1 ticket - 4 Votes for Best Opponent
1 ticket - 5 Votes for Best Opponent

1 ticket - Bringing a Table
3 ticket - acting as a general in the event
Negative 2 tickets - Not reporting to your Generals and causing Chaos in the ranks
Negative 2 tickets - Generals being relieved of command for incompetence by their fellow Generals.
Because of the planning involved games should end early or on time with immediate reporting of results and readiness for the next battle to the General Staff.
