Botanical Watercolor Walkthrough
About this Event
Join us in the Garden Room to practice and learn watercolor techniques with our featured artist, Gursahil Singh. Beginners and more experienced artists are welcome to learn and work with the subjects at the shop. All materials are provided:
The Subject: Select a living plant or arrangement of natural materials from our collection that inspires you.
Paper: Pre-cut, cold-pressed watercolor paper (e.g., 5x7 or 8x10 inches).
Brushes: One versatile brush per person (a Size 6 or 8 Round brush is ideal).
Paint: Small, shared palettes placed at each table, pre-filled with only the 4 to 5 specific colors needed for the chosen plant.
Accessories: Disposable water cups, paper towels, and graphite pencils for the initial sketch.
The workshop will include a guided breakdown of the plant's complex organic structure into simple geometric shape. Using pencils to lightly sketch the foundation of their piece, assessing the colors you want to use, and applying base colors and light washes to develop your own stylized, graphic aesthetic. With one-on-one guidance, everyone will head home with their own watercolor painting!
