About this Event
Join Jeff Jackson, landscape designer and horticulturalist, in this 2-part workshop where we will learn about using cast stone, a cement mixture, to make decorative items for your home and garden.
Part I on Friday, Oct 11 (5:30 - 8:00pm) - We'll talk about the materials involved, different mixtures, mold making, and MUCH more! Then we will all make our own dish with botanical impressions. Come learn from Jeff's 30 years of working with this easy-to-use material, and also learn from everyone else's successes! All materials provided, but you may bring material from your garden if suitable for this application. (Word of caution - no ferns!)
Part II on Saturday, Oct 12 (9:00am - 10:00am) - Since the stone needs to cure overnight, participants will need to return for about one-hour to finish their pieces the next morning.
Jeff Jackson grew up in upper Berkeley County, loving the outdoors, especially influenced by the lakes and national forest. He recieved a BS in Horticulture from Clemson, and has been a practicing landscape designer for 40+ years since. His specialties are native plants and hardscaping with historical materials. This led 30 years ago to him starting to work with his version of tabby and cast stone to offer his clients unique items for their gardens. When not casting stone, Jeff can be found "botanizing" in the Forest or kayaking the lakes and creeks of coastal SC.
