About this Event
October's book club selection is Kiss of the Spider Woman by Manuel Puig in honor of rising star Tonatiuh (not J.Lo) of the upcoming musical film that is based on the novel.
Here is the description:
Kiss of the Spider Woman by Manuel Puig is a novel set in a 1970s Argentine Pr*son, where homosexual window dresser Luis Molina and Marxist revolutionary Valentin Arregui Paz form an unlikely, transformative bond. Molina recounts movies to Valentin, a cinematic escape that becomes the foundation for their intimate discussions about life, love, politics, and identity. Told through dialogue, footnotes, and stream-of-consciousness, the novel uses these interwoven narratives to explore themes of sexuality, gender, liberation, and the power of stories to create connection in oppressive circumstances.
We will meet inside the Bolyston St. entrance. I will let you know if we got a conference room or direct you to where the group is sitting.
