Connecting old melodies and new sounds, Borealis dances across musical worlds - always respecting traditions while experimenting. Never fearing to cross borders, they delight in exploring the old and the new.
Borealis is based in Hamburg, Germany, and consists of Hilke Billerbeck (guitar, bodhrán, vocals), Ulli Buth (5-string fiddle, vocals) and Clara Doose-Grünefeld (concertina, flute, whistles, vocals).
They met in the local Irish folk scene and bring together their longstanding experience as accomplished musicians.
Borealis weave Irish, Scandinavian and German traditions (and more) with their own compositions to produce a versatile and intriguing sound that captures the audience and makes everyone dream or dance - or both.
