Books and Blankets in the Park
About this Event
Books and Blankets in the Park is a family-friendly event dedicated to the magic of reading.
Join The Bookshelf Project for an afternoon of stories, community, and family engagement as we celebrate the joy of reading together. Research consistently shows that family reading time plays a critical role in building a child's literacy skills, confidence, vocabulary, and long-term academic success.
This event is designed to kick off a summer-long series of family literacy engagement activities aimed at helping children stay connected to reading and prevent learning loss during the summer months, often referred to as the "summer slide."
Families will enjoy limited free culturally relevant children's books, story time with local children's book authors, free snacks, and opportunities to learn more about creating literacy-rich home environments. Participants can also sign up for The Bookshelf Project's free Home Library & Bookshelf Program.
Reserve your ticket today! Each registered child will receive a reserved child-sized reading blanket (while supplies last), creating a special space to relax, read, and enjoy the day.
Bring your blanket, gather your family, and spend an afternoon celebrating the power of books, imagination, and community.
Together, let's build strong readers, confident learners, and a lifelong love of reading.
