About this Event
Ready to get hands-on and make your very own beautiful books? Join our in-person bookbinding workshop where you’ll learn some tradtional bookbinding techniques, meet fellow craft lovers, and create some unique keepsakes. Taking inspiration from the stunning historic Hyde Park Picture House, there will be an opportunity to incorporate some features of the building into your book, with the perfect layout chosen by you.
Itinerary
This four hour workshop will run 10am-2pm with time for a lunch break
- Introduction to tools and materials in bookbinding
- Folding, sewing and trimming a simple pamphlet book
- Selecting materials, colours, layouts and coverings for a more advanced multi section book
- Constructing, sewing and trimming a multi section coptic stitch book
What's included?
All materials and tools are provided on the day. You will go home with a minimum of two finished books. All materials and glues are plant based and acid free
Food and drink
Food and drinks can be purchased at the Hyde Park Picture House and there are other food outlets close by
Accessibility
The building has ramp access and there is lift access to the Community Room space where the workshop will take place
This workshop is suitable for beginners and novices who want to experiment and hone their craft.
