Join Jeanna Bigger, co-author of “Stitch It, Don’t Ditch It: Simple hand-sewn repairs to help you love your clothes for longer,” for a deep-dive into how to tackle garment repairs by hand. In this workshop, you’ll be guided through the process of considering the type of damage to your clothes and which materials and hand mending approach will best work together for a long-lasting repair. Using just a few core hand sewing techniques and basic sewing supplies, you can repair just about anything made of textiles, either visibly or subtly, based on your preference, skills, and your garment’s needs.
Bring a damaged article of clothing and any specialty repair materials (such as a suitable zipper or specific fabric); hand sewing supplies and patch material will be included in the workshop. Copies of the book “Stitch It, Don’t Ditch It” will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
