"My fascination with babies began growing up on a hippie commune in the 1970s. I was present for a birth in the ‘summer kitchen’ at the age of four. Later, I practiced in many birth settings, including hospitals and a free-standing birth center, as well as attending births in people's homes. I wrote about my hippie childhood days. You will feel my adrenaline as I describe obstetrical emergencies, a surprise breech, and calling the doctor for help and hear about my Amish patients.
