Zenith Bookstore is delighted to host the launch of Duluth children’s author Margi Preus’ new book, The Shrew Detective: The Case of the Pilfered Pearls on Saturday, May 23rd at 11 AM. There will be a short reading, a treasure hunt, a mystery game, and plenty of bug snacks (Lice Krispie treats? French flies? Croiss-ants?) This will be perfect for the whole family! Meet Minerva Shrew, the detective you didn’t see coming, probably because she is only two inches long, including her tail. Although she is small, she wants to do big things, like solve the mysteries of life and the universe. In spite of her size, she has a capacious intellect, a vast vocabulary (attributable to her wallpaper, pages of a human dictionary), and (owing to her breakneck metabolism) a gigantic appetite for gourmet bug snacks!
Margi Preus’s writing career began when her audition for the kindergarten musical went horribly wrong. Since then, she has written a bazillion plays, a couple of comic operas, and a bunch of books, including the Newbery Honor book Heart of a Samurai, and West of the Moon, a Kirkus Best Book of the Century (so far). When not writing, Margi likes to ski, hike, paddle, or sit quietly with a book in her lap. She lives in Duluth, Minnesota, a winter wonderland renowned for the courageous women and wildlife who call it home.
