BENSON - Ming Toy Gallery is pleased to host the book launch of “Earthlings on Rainbows” by Nikki Giovanni – published by Gibraltar Editions – Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10:00am to 1:00pm. It contains one new and 14 selected poems by Giovanni with a 3-color linocut by local artist Patty Talbert.
Zedeka Poindexter will present a short reading from the book at 11:00am. Refreshments will be served, and the event is free and open to the public.
“Earthlings on Rainbows” is a limited edition available for $100. It was designed by Denise Brady, who hand set the text in Garamond and Studio types. Jim Cox assisted in printing the text in two colors on a Vandercook No. 4. Talbert cut three linoleum plates for the title page image that Brady printed on her handmade cotton rag paper. The printer also sewed the signatures and, with assistance from Emily Anderson, made the cover paper from cotton and jute halfstuff.
Brady has been printing and making books at her home in Benson since 1989. For more information on Gibraltar Editions, visit www.gibraltareditions.co.
