This book launch event will be held at Scenic Hudson's new Northside Hub auditorium in Poughkeepsie on June 11th.
Tom will share from his latest book, Astonished By Beauty: A Field Guide to the Practice of Paying Attention.
What happens when we truly pay attention to the natural world? Astonished by Beauty offers a thoughtful and practical guide to reconnecting with nature through the practice of natural history. Through a series of brief, intimate stories from the Alaskan Arctic to the Amazon, Fleischner reveals how both easy and meaningful it is to deepen our connection with the land and its creatures.
Tom will be in conversation with Laurel Sutherlin, Host of Nature Nuggets on Radio Kingston.
About Tom:
Thomas Lowe Fleischner is Founder and former Executive Director of the Natural History Institute (naturalhistoryinstitute.org) in Prescott, Arizona, Faculty Emeritus at Prescott College, as well as the former Chair of the Natural History Section of the Ecological Society of America.
Tom was founding President of the Natural History Network, co-founded the North Cascades Institute in Washington state and has served on the Board of Governors of the Society for Conservation Biology.
