Born in Ethiopia, raised in Israel, and now a celebrated restaurateur in Harlem, Beejhy Barhany brings her story—and her recipes—to Richmond. As the owner and executive chef of Tsion Café, Beejhy has created a culinary home where Ethiopian and Israeli flavors meet.
Her new cookbook, Gursha: Timeless Recipes for Modern Kitchens, celebrates the rich history and cuisine of Ethiopian Jewry. Join us for a warm afternoon of conversation and cooking as Beejhy shares Beta Israel traditions and explores the meaning of Sigd, the Ethiopian Jewish holiday celebrating connection to the Torah and the longing for Jerusalem.
With mouthwatering tastes from Gursha prepared by local favorites JewFro, this will be an unforgettable cultural and culinary experience.
