Book Discussion Group: "Love War Stories" Week 2

Join fellow readers for the next book discussion group at Wistariahurst beginning November 18th, 2025. Readers will dive into “Love War Stories” by Ivelisse Rodriguez. Dedicated “to Holyoke girls”, this collection of poems and short stories examines the complexities of relationships and the grief and betrayal that can affect them. Love War Stories also delves into the experiences of generational challenges as a Puerto Rican girl growing up. About her work Rodriguez says “This collection documents how ‘love wars’ break out across generations as individuals find themselves caught in the crosshairs of romance, expectations, and community.”

This book discussion group will meet over the course of three weeks on November 18th, November 25th, and December 2nd from 5:30-6:30pm at Wistariahurst Museum. The required readings for each meeting are as follows:

• Tuesday, November 18th 5:30-6:30pm- having read pages 1 - 48
• Tuesday, November 18th 5:30-6:30pm- having read pages 49 - 114
• Tuesday, November 18th 5:30-6:30pm- having read pages 115 - 158

Visit the Holyoke Public Library or your local branch to get a copy of “Love War Stories”. If the book isn’t available at your local library, ask about an inter library loan! This book is also available for free as an ebook on Hoopla. Los lectores se sumergirán en «Love War Stories» (Historias de amor y guerra), de Ivelisse Rodríguez. Dedicada «a las chicas de Holyoke», esta colección de poemas y relatos cortos examina las complejidades de las relaciones y el dolor y la traición que pueden afectarlas. Este grupo de debate literario se reunirá durante tres semanas, el 18 de noviembre, el 25 de noviembre y el 2 de diciembre, de 17:30 a 18:30, en el Museo Wistariahurst. Las lecturas obligatorias para cada reunión son las siguientes:
