Book Club: ‘It’s Not Always Depression’

Do you struggle with anxiety, depression, or connecting in your relationships? Are you interested in psychology, personal growth, and ways to experience greater wellbeing?

Join us for a 6-week study on award-winning book title "Its Not Always Depression" facilitated by Nikolai DeHaven, a master’s-level, licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Kansas.
Using a tool called the Change Triangle, “It’s Not Always Depression” (sometimes it’s shame) educates us on the purpose of emotions and demonstrates through client stories the power they have for growth and healing, whether you are a client in therapy or on your own personal journey of healing and discovery.Topics covered in the book include:

--what is trauma and ways to heal from it

--why all emotions-even the most painful- have value

--how to identify emotions and the defenses we put up against them

--how to get to the root of anxiety – the most common mental illness of our time

--how to have compassion for yourself

The group will focus on questions and discussion of topics covered in the book; exploring, relating, and sharing how the content relates to your own life; and practicing tools and exercises from the book for calming anxiety and recognizing “defenses” against emotion that you use in your own life.
Cost for the 6 weeks is $40, which covers the book and office fees. Meetings will be held weekly on Monday nights starting Oct 21st – Nov 25th from 6:00pm – 7:30pm at Haven Wellness + Spa 7211 W 95th St Overland Park KS.
