BOOK CLUB: Friends of Dorothy (Monthly Meeting)
Finding community and togetherness through books! This month's pick: Gender Queer
About this Event
Are you a friend of Dorothy? This question became popular in the military for gay men trying to identify each other discretely when being gay was grounds for dishonorable discharge. Dorothy (Gale), portrayed by Judy Garland, an icon in the queer community, is a name covert enough to pass, but queer enough for the in crowd.
Friends of Dorothy is a monthly conversation focused on LGBTQ+ books at Woolly Bear Books hosted by Izzy, a queer, nonbinary Carnegie local. All those willing to respect other members, the authors/their stories, and the space graciously provided by Woolly Bear Books are welcome to join.
Meeting at Woolly Bear Books in Carnegie, PA at 6:30pm each month, we will discuss diverse stories from inclusive queer and trans* authors.
Our next discussion will be June 25th where we will be reading Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe.
