The book choice this month is Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver, who received the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2023. The Pulitzer site says: "A masterful recasting of ‘David Copperfield,’ narrated by an Appalachian boy whose wise, unwavering voice relates his encounters with poverty, addiction, institutional failures and moral collapse–and his efforts to conquer them." Alice T., who selected the book, notes “The book may sometimes feel daunting and sad, but the 546 pages are quite readable and read fast. Demon's narration is quite engaging and his struggles are real.
