About this Event
Join us for our book club for a discussion of Cobalt Red: How the Blood of the Congo Powers Our Lives by Siddharth Kara.
This urgent and searing exposé brings to light the human rights and environmental abuses behind the Congo’s cobalt mining operations—the very cobalt that powers the lithium-ion batteries in our smartphones, laptops, and electric vehicles. Through firsthand testimony, Kara unveils the harsh realities faced by Congolese miners—many of them children—and challenges us to consider the moral implications behind the technologies we rely on every day.
This is more than just a book club—it’s a space for community, reflection, and conversation around global justice, tech, and our shared responsibility.
🗣️ What to Expect:
- A guided group discussion of the book
- Casual, welcoming vibes—come ready to talk or just listen
- Coffee & tea
