Join us for a roundtable discussion centered around the book “The Uncertainty of Hope” by Valerie Tagwira. The session will begin with a brief summary of the book, followed by a deep dive into its themes and connections to the realities in Zimbabwe. Kumbi Kahiya will provide valuable insights into how the book reflects Zimbabwe’s socio-political dynamics and offers a unique perspective on the subject.The Uncertainty of Hope by Valerie Tagwira won the National Arts Merit Award (NAMA), Zimbabwe 2008.

Kumbi Kahiya is a women’s rights activist from Zimbabwe and head of the Girls and Women Empowerment Network (GWEN). Through the Smart Girls Nest project, the organisation is committed to education, digital access, protection from gender-based violence and the economic empowerment of girls and young women in rural Zimbabwe. Kumbi brings many years of expertise in youth and women’s work and in the advancement of girls and women to the table.
