A 2-day celebration of bonsai, Saturday, May 9 (World Bonsai Day) and Sunday, May 10 (Mother's Day). Join us for our family-friendly BonsaiFEST! featuring hundreds of living works of art, bonsai-making demonstrations, guided tours, games, food trucks, shopping, and more, all with free admission thanks to support from 4Culture.BonsaiFEST! features:
Bonsai
* Spring Show presented by the Puget Sound Bonsai Association (PSBA)
* Live demonstrations by the local bonsai community — five demos each day (three one-hour and two two-hour), 11 am – 3 pm on May 9 and 11 am – 3:30 pm on May 10
* Popular mame (“mah-may") bonsai display by PSBA member Edd Kuehn (both days)
* Opening of Bonsai United — free admission thanks to support from 4Culture (open through November 2027)
* Shop for bonsai, pots, and specialty plants from Asia Pacific Gardening, Inc. (both days)
Arts & Activities
* Free custom poems written on the spot for visitors by poet Alexandria Manalo (both days) — May 9, 11 am – 2:30 pm; May 10, 11 am – 4 pm
* Arts and coloring tent for children
* Onsite tabling by King County Library – Federal Way (May 9)
* Pacific Bonsai Museum Store pop-up shop featuring unique gifts, including the 2026 enamel pin — a must for collectors
Food & Drinks
* MoMo's Kebab food truck (both days)
* Sweet Wheels Ice Cream (May 9)
* Classic Crepes and More (May 9)
* Whippy Cart from Dippy's Ice Cream (May 10)
PARKING:
* Free parking is available across from the Museum at the Garden Parking Lot; wheelchair-accessible parking and passenger drop-off/pick-up is available at the Museum entrance.
COST:
* Admission is free thanks to support from 4Culture. There is a $12 suggested donation for adults who can support the Museum.
