A poignant double bill of short film and live performance especially commissioned for VE Day 80th Anniversary, highlighting the lifelong impact of conflict trauma, performed by award-winning playwright/performer Helena Fox, actor-vocalist Natasha Jones (live performance) and actor George Stagnell (film).
Breath-taking true stories of two Yorkshire Normandy Veterans.
Seen through a lens of sleep trauma, Smudger’s Story is a powerful spoken-word performance with haunting acapella song, performed by playwright Helena Fox and actor-vocalist Natasha Jones, interweaving first-hand testimonies of infantryman Ken “Smudger” Smith with the Veteran’s own 1940’s photography from the Middle East.
Hank’s Story, a cinematic short film,follows veteranDennis “Hank” Haydock (actor George Stagnell) from a tank training camp in Duncombe Park to the Front Line through to VE Day, all filmed in the historic remains of the camp Hank was stationed in prior to D-DAY.
