Meet Gauti:

Gauti is a dancer/teacher based in New York City. Her training started at the age of 4 in Indian folk, followed by 8 years in Bharatanatyam (Visharadh - final exam). Simultaneously, she also started her training from the age of 6 in commercial dance forms. She is trained in hip hop, modern contemporary, street jazz, and commercial dancing for 20+ years. She was also part of Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts back in India and has been part of shows like Filmfare, Zee Shows, NCPA, with celebrities like Will Smith and Shah Rukh Khan, to name a few. She was an instructor at Shiamak USA for a year. She has completed her certification in social dance (rumba) from London School of Ballroom Dancing.

Being part of the commercial dance scene for a long time, she has experienced and dealt with body image issues and stereotypes around “dancer's body," "what a dancer should look like," and "fit into this costume," as well as the tendency to judge dancers based on how they look versus their talent.

In 2018, she started her own YouTube channel to empower people to feel confident in their own bodies, thus leading by example. In May 2022, she started "DanceWithGauti" to not only document her journey but also spread this awareness in her dance workshops, incorporating technique training, exercises to help people feel confident in their own bodies and movements, and encouraging them to bring out their unique selves.
