Body Poetics

Writing the Body, Identity and the Politics of Being Human

What stories does the body carry?

In this creative writing course, participants will explore how the body shapes identity and experience, and how poetry can give language to the stories we carry within us.

Through poetry readings, discussion, and guided writing exercises, participants will examine themes such as memory, gender expectations, sexuality, identities, social stereotypes, trauma, body transformation, and belonging.

Open to writers of all levels, the course offers a supportive and inclusive space to experiment with voice, imagery, and expression while transforming personal experience into powerful creative work.

By the end of the course, participants will have developed new creative skills and produced original pieces exploring the body as a site of memory, identity, and expression.

Come prepared to reflect, challenge assumptions, and write with courage.

Sessions respect inclusivity and diverse lived experiences.
