About this Event
Description
In a world where mainstream wellness is often disconnected from politics and systemic challenges, how can we reclaim self-care that nourishes and empowers our activism practice?
This session invites participants to explore Body Liberation as a framework for transformative self-care. First, attendees will be guided through the binary and hierarchical nature of mainstream wellness culture. Next, through reflection, group discussion, and somatic practice, attendees will gain tools that help reclaim ancestral wisdom and integrate lived experiences into their self-care routines. Participants will leave with a foundational blueprint for creating personalized, sustainable self-care action plans that seamlessly support their activism.
By the end of the session, attendees will be able to:
1.) Analyze the socially dominant narratives surrounding health and well-being, identifying how they perpetuate hierarchical and supremacist ideologies.
2.) Evaluate the historical and contemporary roles of the body as both a site of oppression and a source of power, and discuss how this impacts personal and collective well-being.
3.) Apply a Body Liberated lens to self-care practices, incorporating insights from ancestral wisdom, lived experiences, and the different dimensions of well-being.
4.) Create a personalized, sustainable self-care routine that aligns with transformative self-care principles, designed to support both individual health and activist work.
A session recording will be sent to all who register and will be available to view for 45 days.

About Pricing
Embody Lib prioritizes making our services financially accessible for those most impacted by structural and systemic marginalization - namely those that are higher-weight, queer, Black, Indigenous POC, and people of marginalized genders. As a result, Embody Lib offers a tiered pricing model to help alleviate the financial burden of those who hold multiple marginalized social identities. Embody Lib trusts that you will move with integrity and select the most appropriate Pricing Tier that reflects your lived experience and access to capital, resources, and opportunities.
Our pricing model is reflected as follows:
- Tier 1 Pricing is reserved for those who struggle to pay rent and basic bills each month.
- Tier 2 Pricing is considered our "General Admission" Price.
- Tier 3 Pricing is reserved for those who can regularly pay rent/their basic bills, make “non-essential” purchases, and still have disposable income left over each month.
About Embody Lib
Despite significant efforts to close health gaps, disparities among Black, Brown, and Indigenous People of Color—also known as People of the Global Majority—continue to widen due to systemic inequities.
Mainstream conversations often frame health and well-being as individual responsibilities, overlooking the collective dimensions influenced by the built environment, equity, and social justice. Organizations and institutions in the nonprofit and public sectors hold substantial power in shaping the environments, systems, and structures that enable communities to thrive.
Our services are designed to transform the culture, policies, practices, and programs that impact the health and well-being of staff, board members, and the communities they serve, especially those who face systemic challenges.
Guided by the founder’s lived experiences, professional expertise, and academic background, Embody Lib offers a range of tools, frameworks, and strategies rooted in weight-inclusive, multidimensional, and interdisciplinary approaches, lay the groundwork for liberation, justice, and equity.
