Celebrating 30 Years of Nearly Neil at Casino Regina
A legend and pioneer in the Canadian tribute community, Bobby Bruce's remarkable journey as "Nearly Neil" began in 1994. The Vancouver-based actor and singer was quickly recruited by
Las Vegas' Legends in Concert launching him in the USA and drawing the attention of international promoters. Beginning an international career, earning him his iconic moniker after a massive 1996 tour of Australia.
The international success launched Bruce's own show, Nearly Neil and the Solitary Band, in 1997. It was this same year, 1997, that Bobby Bruce first brought his charismatic tribute to Casino Regina, starting in the caboose before the new showroom was built, beginning a decades-long relationship with the venue and its loyal audiences.
A Global Star, A Canadian Staple
Since his debut, Bruce has broken away from the "Legends" format, building a global career with dozens of tours across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, including the distinct honour of performing for the King and Queen of Malaysia. The Solitary Band has also embarked on national tours of the USA and Canada, repeat tours to the Cayman Islands, Holland, and Belgium, performing for crowds up to 20,000.
Despite the global travel, Casino Regina has remained a cornerstone of his Canadian touring schedule.
Community and The Big Return
After adapting to life off-the-road in early 2020; even earning the BC Government's Medal of Good Citizenship for volunteer service on Gambier Island, Bobby Bruce has successfully returned to international touring.
Celebrating over 30 years of tribute artistry, Bobby Bruce and the Solitary Band are thrilled to return to Casino Regina on Saturday, February 7, 2026. This performance marks a monumental three decades since he first captivated audiences in the city and pays tribute to the enduring connection forged since his inaugural appearance at the Casino in 1997.
Bruce’s performances are celebrated for their authenticity and flair, capturing the spirit of Neil Diamond while adding his own distinctive charisma. "I’m grateful to have spent decades singing great music to audiences who love it. The band and I always have a great time, especially in Regina," reflects Bruce.
