Bob McNeill & Emily Roughton are two of New Zealand's best-known folk musicians. They bring their deep musical connection to festivals across New Zealand, playing their favourite songs and tunes collected over years of playing together at festivals, stages and late into the night at kitchen tables.
One of New Zealand's best known folk songwriters, Bob McNeill's songs have been covered by artists in NZ, Australia, the UK and USA. New Zealand Musician magazine compared his songwriting to Bruce Springsteen and Mark Knopfler; the Dominion Post likened him to Jackson Brown, James Taylor, Luka Bloom and Dougie MacLean. A compelling storyteller, his songs paint vivid images of the moments of decision in people's lives. He has won three New Zealand Music Awards ("Tuis"), all for best Folk Album, and has toured in NZ, Australia, Canada, the US, Ireland and the UK. His first solo NZ tour in a decade showcases his unique songwriting, celebrated guitar playing and gorgeous live sound. He brings new music from his forthcoming album TWELVE DREAMS OF THE RIVER, his huge back catalogue and
magical musical connection he shares with Emily.
From Whangarei, Emily is a virtuoso violinist inspired by the Scottish tradition and the modern trad movement. Classically trained, she is infinitely adaptable with her gorgeous stylings and fiery tune playing and the perfect foil for Bob's lyrical songs. Emily tours internationally with stage and dance productions of Celtic music. Her band Rough Town is a sought-after act at Festivals in New Zealand and Australia.
