This session – World Cruisers: 35+ Years. Hosted by Kasper & Trish
Long-time adventurers Kasper & Trish Schibli take us through over three decades of cruising the globe. From breathtaking destinations to lessons learned at sea, their stories will inspire sailors of all levels. You’ll hear real-world boating experiences, gain practical tips and nautical know-how, connect with fellow boating enthusiasts, and find the event valuable whether you’re a new or seasoned member.
Come and be inspired by the extraordinary story of Kaspar and Trisha Schibli – two of the most accomplished bluewater sailors you’ll ever meet. With over 35 years of offshore cruising experience, this seasoned couple has quite literally seen the world under sail. From crossing oceans to navigating remote archipelagos, the Schiblis have logged tens of thousands of nautical miles aboard their beautifully maintained 53-foot wooden yawl Starfire, a 1962-built classic they’ve lovingly restored and sailed for decades.
Highlights of their sailing life include:
A 50,000-mile circumnavigation from 1993–1998 via Japan, Australia, the Suez Canal, the Mediterranean, and the Panama Canal.
A multi-ocean adventure beginning in 2005 that saw them rounding Cape Horn, cruising up through the Americas, the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia, and the Baltic.
A full, hands-on refit of Starfire, from new steering and teak decking to re-caulking her hull – a testament to their seamanship and dedication.
In recognition of their outstanding voyages, Kaspar and Trisha were awarded the Cruising Club of America’s prestigious Far Horizons Award in 2015 – an honor reserved for those whose adventures exemplify the highest ideals of offshore cruising.
