In February 2021, Dr. Kimeka G. Campbell launched Black NewsBeat-a live, multimedia talk show produced in collaboration with Open Stage in Downtown Harrisburg. Born out of a need to amplify the vibrant, complex, and creative realities of Black and Brown life in Central PA, #HBGBNB quickly became a cultural pulse point for the region. Each show dives deep into the civic, creative, and cultural narratives that shape community-featuring a dynamic mix of:
• Local poets, musicians, and storytellers
• Community organizers, educators, and advocates
• Pop culture segments like "Movies & Melanin"
• Grassroots spotlights like "Sweeping the Streets"
From spotlighting hidden gems to unpacking social justice issues, Black NewsBeat is where Harrisburg's culture gets centered, celebrated, and challenged-on its own terms.
