BMOP presents JFK

David T. Little’s opera, JFK, imagines the final night John and Jacqueline Kennedy spent in Fort Worth, Texas, before traveling to Dallas.
Royce Vavrek’s libretto employs dream states rather than literal history to explore their inner lives. Guided by mythic Fates, the couple drifts into visions that blend memory, fantasy, and emotional truth: Jack revisits key figures from his past; Jackie encounters her future self-preparing her for the day ahead. Time bends, but fate remains fixed.
The opera portrays the Kennedys at the cusp of tragedy, examining their humanity, pain, and love, and the way they became American myth, ultimately reflecting not only their story but the nation’s enduring sense of loss and the inevitability of destiny.
