About this Event
As part of the BMC Big Walking Weekend, BMC North East Hill Walking Rep, Lou Feeley will explore the coastal path between Craster, famous for its smoked kippers and Low Newton. Along the way we will take in the impressive cliff top ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle and the remains of the WW2 pillboxes in Emberton Bay before reaching the 18th Century fishermen’s cottages at Low Newton. The route then returns toward the castle along the Northumberland Coast Path National Trail. The route is a mix of coastal path, sand dunes and track with the opportunity to walk along the beach, tide permitting.
We’re excited to welcome you for a memorable day in the outdoors!
Meet the Leader
With over 20 years of experience in secondary education and a lifelong passion for the outdoors, Louise brings both expertise and empathy to every walk.
After moving to Northumberland, Louise followed her dream of working in the outdoors. Today, she’s a freelance outdoor instructor, helping young people achieve their Duke of Edinburgh Awards and supporting adults to build confidence and skills in wild spaces. She also serves as the North East Hill Walking Representative for the British Mountaineering Council (BMC).
Louise describes the hills as her “happy place — rain or shine,” and her greatest joy comes from inspiring others to discover the benefits of being outside.
When she’s not on the trail, you’ll find her on the netball court or walking her four lively spaniels along the beach.
North Wales holds a special place in Louise’s heart. It’s where she first fell in love with the mountains as a teenager, and Moel Siabod remains her favourite peak.
