Join us for our limited run of Blues Roots Mixtape Mondays for an evening of great DJ'd music, socialising, and dance!
Each fortnight we'll be at Small Rave on K'Rd to explore blues music genres and the dances that evolved alongside them.
Whether you're totally new to dancing or looking to refine your skills, don't miss this limited opportunity!
With a different music theme each fortnight, we're excited to explore how the music influences our movement and how we connect with a dance partner.
Monday 3 Aug: Juke Joint Party
Monday 17 Aug: Funk & Soul Sesh
Monday 31 Aug: Speakeasy
Monday 14 Sep: Low down slow down
Monday 28 Sep: Stomp n' Shuffle
Event schedule:
7:25 Doors open
7:30 Dance sampler (solo & partnered - no partner required, we rotate in class)
8:30 DJ'd social dance party
9:30 Wrap up
Prices:
Full package (discounted, 5 classes): $80+BF
Weekly drop in: $20+BF
Need to know:
Wear clean, comfortable clothes that you can move in. Wear deoderant. If you sweat easily then wear sleeves/two layers for partner dancing. Bring your own vibe, the teachers will be smart casual.
Wear soft soled shoes.
Bring a drink bottle.
Please arrive on time.

Closely related to other Black American dances such as hip hop, house, lindy hop and vernacular jazz—blues dance is grounded, relaxed, and deeply connected to the incredible music through individual groove and community connection.
