The Gentlemen Grifters are an acoustic brotherhood of fun who thread multiple genres into foot-stomping, heart-felt, original string music. The band embraces the more adventurous side of bluegrass, weaving in influences from grunge, ragtime and R&B… even hip hop! Hell, even sea shanties!
The focus of the Grifter’s lyrics comes from a lot of different places. Some songs are tongue-in-cheek portraits of criminals, gamblers, and drifters. Other songs are heart-felt, personal stories about home. When the band covers other artists they like to mash up styles, like grass versions of Metallica.
Ranging from soulful and smokey, to bass-rich twang, multiple singers bring distinct character to each song. Depending how the planets align, a live show might consist of fiddle, mandolin, guitar, bass, banjo or drums.
