The Department of Music presents its annual Bluegrass and American Roots Festival, featuring The Cleverlys, a bluegrass and comedy cover band, on Friday night and The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys, a unique East Tennessee bluegrass band, on Saturday night. Denison’s Bluegrass and American Roots Ensemble, under the direction of Adam Schlenker, will open each concert with a short set. In addition to the two evenings of exciting concerts, there will be an afternoon of workshops on Saturday from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts (240 West Broadway). Students, local musicians, and guest artists will form pop-up bands for rehearsals, jamming, and performances in a band-mixer format. Tickets are not necessary for the workshops.
Please note: Beginning Jan. 1, 2025, Presidents’ Drive will be closed to facilitate the renovation and expansion of Doane Hall. Denison visitors are asked to use the East Gate entrance on Washington Drive at Pearl Street (Rt. 661), a few blocks North of downtown Granville. Visitors to events at Swasey and on the Academic Quad may park in the Swasey lot or the parking garage as usual.
