Get together in person for an awesome day of PHOTOBOOK SHARING and a hands-on ZINE-MAKING WORKSHOP. Whether you're a photobook fanatic or just curious, this is your chance to swap stories, get creative, and make your very own zine. Don't miss out on connecting with fellow photo lovers and crafting something unique!
Blue Photobook Club is a monthly gathering initiated by photographer and visual artist Jialin Yan, hosted in a studio space in South East London.
The project was created with the hope of bringing together photographers, visual artists, students, and anyone interested in photography and visual storytelling, building a supportive and open creative community through books, conversations, and collective sharing. Rather than a formal lecture or networking event, the club aims to create a relaxed and welcoming environment where people can connect through images, references, publishing practices, and personal experiences. Through regular gatherings, Blue Photobook Club hopes to slowly grow into a long-term community where people can support one another, exchange ideas openly, and feel less isolated within creative practice.
This time, the session will include 3 parts:
- Part 1 : Guest Sharing & Photobook Discussion
Guest artist Marie-Lisette Cropp will share her own artistic practice, photobooks, references, and publishing experiences. Participants are also warmly encouraged to bring photobooks, zines, or visual publications they would like to share with the group, whether self-published works, books they have made themselves, or books that have personally inspired them. - Part 2 : Collaborative Zine-Making Workshop
The guest artist will lead a simple and informal zine-making session together with participants. Participants are encouraged to bring small test prints, photo copies, sketches, text fragments, or loose images , nothing precious or overly polished — to experiment with sequencing, editing, collage, and collective making. The workshop focuses on process, conversation, and experimentation rather than creating a “perfect” final object. - Part 3 : Open Sharing & Conversations
The final part of the evening will be an informal open sharing session, where participants are welcome to continue conversations, exchange ideas, show works-in-progress, and connect with one another in a relaxed environment. Free coffee and tea will be provided throughout the session to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for discussion and community building.
