NEW Monthly Cleanup, Sponsored by York River Stewardship Committee and the National Park Service Wild and Scenic Rivers Program!
Join us for a cleanup on Wednesday, August 12, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Short Sands!
These cleanups are held on the second Wednesday of each month. Cleanup times vary depending on the tides, so please check our Public Cleanup Bulletin or events calendar for the most up-to-date schedule before attending.
Registration is required at blueoceansociety.org/cleanup.
Parking at Short Sands Beach is currently $4/hr. Free parking is available at the Center for Active Living, located at 36 Main St., about a quarter-mile from the beach.
All ages are welcome, but children must be supervised due to the sharp nature of some debris items. We recommend bringing layers, as temperatures on the coast can be 10 to 15 degrees cooler than inland.
All cleanup supplies are provided except gloves. To avoid single-use plastic, please bring reusable gloves, such as gardening gloves, work gloves, or thin winter gloves.
Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes early so we can begin the cleanup on schedule.
