We welcome Shelby Ballentine as our judge.
Shelby Lawrence is a trainer, instructor, and horse show judge with a passion for developing confident, well-rounded horses and riders through dressage-based horsemanship. Known for her positive, approachable teaching style, she works with riders of all disciplines and experience levels, meeting each partnership where they are.
Shelby is a USDF Bronze & Silver Medalist and a graduate of the USDF L Education Program. She holds open show judging cards across multiple specialties, including dressage, hunt seat, gaited horses, and western disciplines. She is currently continuing her education through the USAWE ‘L’ Judge Program. In recent years, she has expanded her focus into versatility and then found
working equitation. She has fallen in love with the WE community, spirit behind the sport, and purpose based training, which she greatly enjoys sharing with her students. Recent 2025 competition highlights include multiple championships at the National Dressage Pony Cup, an Open FEI Award at GMHA Dressage, a Top 5
finish at the Equine Affaire Versatile Horse & Rider Competition, and the USAWE 2025 GVHS High Point Breed Award. With experience as a student, trainer, competitor, and judge, Shelby brings a well-rounded perspective to her teaching. Her upbeat, relatable style makes her clinics both educational and enjoyable for riders of all levels.
