About this Event
Special Guest: Zach Coffin, CTO of Helios Industries
This month’s Blue Economy Primer Meetup will feature a conversation with Helios Industries CTO and globally recognized artist, Zach Coffin. Zach will share with us his amazing journey from climate activist and large-scale Burning Man sculptor of interactive community art, to an innovator and inventor designing cutting edge renewable energy solutions.
Working with , Zach designed the SolarWing, the next generation in solar microgrid systems. Each 25kW unit generates approximately 150kWh per day, with additional onboard storage of up to 150kWh, facilitating 24/7 operation at night or during inclement weather. SolarWing is configured in a 20-foot shipping container standard for ease of transport. The single push of a button deploys the solar array and begins operation. Smart and self-protecting, the unit detects unsafe wind speeds or storms and automatically retracts the wings. New Orleans-based was recently recognized as a National Semifinalist in the and will compete in the Global Forum finals later this month.
