The Blue Café series of free performances in Camden Opera House’s intimate third-floor listening room presents Myles Kelley. Myles is a talented jazz pianist, composer, and educator from Appleton, Maine, known for his work with the Myles Kelley Trio, performing at venues like the Farnsworth Art Museum and Bistro La Cave in Camden and has performed at several of the Jazz in June festivals at the COH Myles' musical style focuses on original instrumental music, blending improvisation, groove, and passion, often with dynamic visuals. Myles also teaches piano, jazz theory, and music production at the Maine Academy of Modern Music. He's a University of Maine graduate with strong roots in the mid-coast music scene. The Camden Opera House is also pleased to announce a new addition to the 3rd floor Blue Café: a 1941 Steinway M baby grand piano, a gift from Bay Chamber music school. OH manager Dave Morrison says “it was sort of a chain reaction of generosity – a supporter of Bay Chamber gifted them a grand piano, and in order to make space, Bay Chamber donated one to us. We’re very excited for the possibilities for acoustic piano nights in the Blue Café.”
There are two upcoming events to make use of this new instrument – on February 11 jazz pianist Miles Kelley will do a solo performance, and on April 29 pianist and composer Ben Cosgrove will play.
Blue Café shows are free to the public, and are supported by donations to the Community Arts Fund. Doors open at 7:00pm at 29 Elm Street.
