Celebrate Mother’s Day with a creative morning in nature at beautiful Fernhill Estate. Spend time outdoors with your mum, a loved one or a friend while learning how to create striking botanical prints inspired by the surrounding gardens and landscapes.Guided by artist and educator Gemma McKenzie-Booth, you will be introduced to the fascinating process of cyanotype printing – an early photographic technique that uses sunlight to create vivid blue and white images.
After a short introduction to the history and landscape of Fernhill Estate, you will join a gentle guided walk through the gardens to gather leaves, flowers and natural materials to use in your artwork.
You will experiment with arranging your collected specimens to design unique compositions on paper and other surfaces. Using sunlight to develop your prints, you will watch as delicate shapes and textures emerge in beautiful shades of blue. By the end of the session, you will take home a collection of handmade prints inspired by your time in nature.
Morning tea is included, creating space to slow down, share a conversation and enjoy a relaxed creative experience together.
Suitable for adults of all skill levels – no prior experience required.
