About this Event
Help the Burnaby Lake Weedbusters at the Burnaby Lake Nature House
Last October during our EcoBlitz, we planted hundreds native plants at our 2025 restoration site by the Nature House (BI-A in the map below). The next step for this project is to go through the site for maintainance - checking for and removing any invasives that may have crept in , adding additional mulch between all these new plants. If we get through this task, we will move to another section of this restoration area.
ALSO:
A small number of volunteers are needed to assist on our first Spring tidy up session of the Butterfly Garden in anticipation of the Forest Fairy Gathering on May 9th. We'll focus on clearing the paths so people can walk through the garden as well as away from the fence so the staff parking area isn’t obstructed. Any debris created will be disposed of on the compost pile behind the Nature House.
Everyone will meet in front of the Nature House.
Tools and safety training will be provided.
This event will be limited to 15 volunteers.
- If you are a new volunteer, please select the "New Volunteer" Ticket.
- If you are a returning volunteer, please select the "Returning Weedbuster Volunteer" or "Returning Butterfly Gardener" Ticket.
What to bring
- Water bottle, and your work/garden gloves and tools if you prefer.

- You may want knee pads, if you prefer to kneel while working close to the ground.
