Blooms & Bikes

Join us for a FREE guided, plant-focused group ride where you’ll discover how native plants are taking root in the heart of downtown. Tagalong with one of our horticulturalists as they highlight what's in bloom along the Indianapols Cultural Trail while learning more about our 5 acres of urban gardens, hundreds of stormwater planters, and 500+ street trees.

This relaxed, beginner-friendly journey lasts about 2 to 2.5 hours, rolls out of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail headquarters at 10 AM and will have plenty of stops to take in the sights, snap a few photos, and dig deeper into the Trail’s green strategy. Let’s grow! 🌿🚲

Biking Options
Bring your own bike or use a Pacers Bikeshare bike. We will have a limited number of Pacers Bikeshare bike for each ride. Pacers Bikeshare is complimentary for Annual, IndyRides Free, and Butler, members, and available to rental for non-members for $25. Those wanting a Pacers Bikeshare must register for one ahead of time on Eventbrite with appropriate ticket and be 18 years old. Helmets for riders are highly encouraged, so bring your own or borrow one of ours.

Unable to ride or not comfortable on a traditional two-wheel bike? Pacers Bikeshare offers a variety of adaptable bikes that can be reserved. However, reservations for an adapable bike must be complete 48 hours in advance of ride.

Ride Information

Blooms and Bikes is a beginner-friendly group ride that welcomes all paces and experience levels. Each time the ride route will change to catch what's blooming, but we'll always stick to the Indianapolis Cultural Trail. Cyclists should feel comfortable riding for up to 7 miles at a casual, conversational pace. Participants should expect approximately 1 hour of riding with a roughly 30-60 minutes of educational stops.

Registration

Registration is required for every participant. Please ensure you select the right date(s) and ticket type. A waitlist will be available if the event 'sells out.' We politlely ask you only register if you can attend and if you plans change, that you release your ticket so someone else may enjoy the ride.

Info: Grab a Pacer Bikeshare bike if reserved, check in, and meet the group! We'll have helmets to borrow and tools in case you need any last minute adjustments. Our ride leader will go over route and group ride instructions before we depart.

Info: Total ride time will be roughly 1 hour with a 30-60 minute of stops to learn more about the Cultural Trail's native plants. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and take photos at stops! Ride pace is typically 8-12 mph depending on location and group.
