Hikers…we’re back at it again!! Another year conquering the infamous Blood Mountain!! Blood Mountain isn’t just a hike—it’s a rite of passage for Georgia hikers. IYKYK!
Towering at over 4,450 feet, it’s the highest peak on the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail. On this 4mile hike, you’ll trek through dense forests and we hope to have leaves in full fall transformation during this hike. We’ll take our time as we tackle the climb rocky outcrops, and reach a stone shelter at the summit where you can enjoy the kind of 360-degree views that make the journey totally worth it!!
Whether you’re a hiking enthusiast or just up for a challenge, this adventure promises to be as rewarding as it is exhilarating!! Join me on the trails!!

Trail Dets:
• Distance: 4.2 miles round trip (moderate to strenuous)
• Elevation Gain: 1,450 feet (a solid workout that rewards you with jaw-dropping views)
• Pace: We’ll keep a steady but manageable pace, taking breaks to soak in the surroundings and recharge.
• Peep This: The sweeping views of Vogel State Park, Lake Trahlyta, and the endless stretch of mountains fading into the horizon.
Mindful Tips:
• The trail is rocky, so be sure to wear sturdy footwear with good grip.
• Pack a lunch to enjoy at the summit while taking in the spectacular views.
• It can be chilly at the top, so layer up and bring something warm for when we stop before heading back down.
Fun Facts:
• Blood Mountain is steeped in legend—some say it’s named after a fierce battle fought between the Cherokee and Creek tribes on its slopes.
• The summit features a historic stone shelter built in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, making it a great spot to check out when you rest and take in the view.
• This trail is a part of the Appalachian Trail, where thousands of hikers pass each year on their journey from Georgia to Maine.
