About this Event
Take in a community drum circle, a healing cacao ceremony, a live looping multi-instrumentalist, followed by a healing sound bath. You are invited to take a gift and leave a gift for a silent gift exchange. And there will be food and beverages for purchase. We have a handful of seriously talented artists and creators that will have their goods for sale in case you need a last minute gift too.
What’s happening:
5pm-6pm Join Maggie and Dani Savino for a guided drum circle. Learn a rhythm or find your own. It’s called “playing” music for a reason. Come and play, or just listen, receive, sing or dance.
Bring out the rhythm from deep inside as you flow, and dance with your own innate rhythmic pattern of the heart.
This is an opportunity to ground, stretch out, connect with vendors, grab a hug, or join the circle.
6pm We will circle up for a Cacao Ceremony. Cacao is a heart opening plant medicine that has been used for centuries to connect with “spirit”, to manifest dreams, and heal from the inside out. This will be served as a warm drink, mixed with herbs, agave, and spices. Expect to feel its uplifting effects, along with the possibility of amplified emotions. Often referred to as momma cacao, she will give you a hug from the inside out.
This day is our Christmas Celebration, and falls on the Winter Solstice. On the darkest day of the year, we will spend time lighting each other up, in prayer, in song, and in being fully witnessed in our own unique light.
6:30pm Stella Lumina, Danielle Savino and Casper take the stage. This trio returns to Des Moines after opening for Sierra Marin this summer, because 30 mins left us all wanting more of this unique and harmonious sound.
Songstress of Soul, Stella is a live looping world musician and multi-instrumentalist. She’s a true improv artist of the moment, believing that being played by spirit as an instrument herself is the key to tapping into the greater universal harmony. Her dynamic baselines are cosmic grooves are heavily influenced by Latin America rhythm’s and island soulfulness. Blending worlds with fresh melody’s that inspire hope and healing. Her maringa good feeling music brings a BIG love vibe that inspires more of it! Accompanied by esteemed percussionist Danielle Savino, or Dani Savi for short. The two are nothing short of enigmatic sonic alchemy.
Around 8pm we will wrap up the music and find a place on the ground to stretch out and receive a healing sound bath. You can use this time to journal, meditate, stretch or sing along.
Olive and Flick offer a unique variety of instruments, as well as a harmonious and smooth transition between Crystal Bowls, gongs, handpan, ngoni(African harp) chimes, ocean drum, rainstick, native drumming, and medicine songs. Our intention is to create a space that will inspire you to let go of all that does not serve you, to make way for the best version of yourself.
As we return, we always offer a space for reflection and connection after event. We hope that you feel full on every level as you find your way home ❤️🙏🏼
As for the gift exchange, take a gift and leave a gift under the tree! You can do something handmade, offer a service gift card, regift something, or buy something. We will have a tree for kids and for adults. Feel free to bring an extra gift or 2 and we will donate them for you! We will have a few extras in case you don’t have something to bring.
There is a limited amount of early bird tickets! Get one as soon as you can confirm your attendance ❄️ We can’t wait dance with you ❤️🌱
