Bliss Comedy is founded and hosted by Mary Cross , queer comedian, radio presenter and podcaster who is looking to create a wonderfully diverse and safe space for everyone to enjoy a night of comedy.
This month we are pairing up with the brilliant Token Comedy Collective based at the Storyhouse in Chester for another fantastically diverse line up of comedians.
Mary will be joined in the MC duties by Lulu Simons
Lulu Simons is a proud Welsh, working class stand-up comedian, writer, and performer.
Passionate about platforming underrepresented people in comedy; Lulu has also taken proactive steps to foster greater diversity by founding @TOKENComedyCollective, aimed at supporting and amplifying underrepresented voices on the circuit.
All-in-all, she’s a daft, exciting and ambitious talent.
Canal Street Media, Manchester:
“Lulu reminded us of Victoria Wood in her observational comedy and great comic timing. She’s warm and natural with her audience and we can’t wait to see where she takes this show next.”
Headliner – Jane Postlethwaite
Jane Postlethwaite is a Queer, multi–comedy award–nominated stand-up comedian from Cumbria. She’s been heard on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio Cumbria, and has had sell-out shows at Brighton Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe and the Women in Comedy Festival. She reached the British Comedy Award Finals, and her show Terrible People was nominated for the “Big Gay Award” at Brighton Fringe.
Jane also hosts two LGBTQ+ comedy podcasts: All the Terrible Things, where she chats with queer guests about their spooky stories, and That’s So Sapphic, co-hosted with Alexi Melvin, which looks back at the clues to sapphic identity hidden in a world with very little representation.
She has a loyal fanbase on social media from across the World as she makes relatable LGBTQIA+ comedy content videos with 83k TikTok and 19k Instagram Followers @JaneDoesComedy
Opener – Melina Fiol
Born in Leicester to Spanish-Filipino parents, Melina began her comedy journey in 2021 and is already a distinct voice on the comedy scene. In 2023, she was chosen as one of Leicester Comedy Festival's Circuit Breakers, before taking part in the Hull Comedy Festival Comedian of the Year Final and winning Nodding Dog's New Comedian of the Year Competition.
"Comedy Powerhouse"
"Natural charisma, keeps you hanging on every word"
Melina performed at Bliss Comedy back in 2024 and we can’t wait to welcome her back
Red Hot Llama
Red Hot Llama is a scouse queer comedian who has performed across the world including in New York and the Netherlands. She loves to share embarrassing stories that shouldn’t be true and comes with a warning “Not suitable for prudes!”
Maddy Templeman
Maddy Templeman is a newbie comedian with a rather unusual upbringing. She attends TOKEN's monthly workshops and loves to make people laugh. She is also an Amazon bestselling writer, musician and speaker.
Maddy made her comedy debut after taking part in a Bliss Comedy Workshop at Womanifest in 2024 and has had the bug to perform ever since!
Tracy Bevan
Tracy is a comedian based in Chester. She may be too old to be described as ‘up and coming’ (doing two things at once can leave her exhausted for days) but she is new to the comedy circuit.
She first took to the stage in her 50s, performing in Liverpool to a crowd of 250 enthusiastic, drunk, people and she’s been hooked ever since. Sharp witted, menopausal and cross, she has replaced all her oestrogen with sarcasm and now runs off humour.
Originally from London, she’s lost none of her big-city charm. She lives a true Jekyll-and-Hyde existence: positive psychologist by day, prowling the bars with her stand-up by night.
Nelle Keeler
In her first year of doing stand-up, Nelle Keeler won both the Lass O’Gowrie Manchester Comedy Festival New Act of the Year and the Fox and Goose Southport Comedy Festival New Act of the Year. Since then, she has gigged all over the UK with her observational, story-telling style, doing everything from solo shows, tour support and on the circuit gigging at some of the best comedy clubs in the country.
Nelle Keeler at the Bliss Comedy open mic in July and we loved her so much we wanted to see her perform at the September show.
Sam Wood
Sam is a member of the Token Comedy Collective.
