The custom of blessing our pets came to be in remembrance of Saint Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures. Francis, whose feast day is October 4th, saw all creatures as our siblings, equally imbued with God’s blessing. All are welcome to bring their pets, pictures of pets, or other remembrances, to our labyrinth garden at 3 pm Sunday, October 5. As in past years, we will gather with people and pets from other congregations. Invite friends and neighbors for this informal, joyful celebration of our fellow creatures.
