An 8km / 5 mile loop to the summit of one of Wainwright's classics; Blencathra. Blencathra is one of England’s most popular and famous mountains. On this Grand Scale Trail we will take in the Hall’s Fell Ridge (Grade 1 scramble) before reaching the summit and descending past Blease Fell. This route is not for the feint hearted. We will climb 725m / 2400 ft. Although you don't need to be an experienced hiker, a good level of fitness and good head for heights is required, as this will involve a scramble, using your hands.
However, rest assured that with a qualified, experienced Mountain Leader, you will be able to experience a true mountain trail, enjoy spectacular views, and ultimately feel an incredible sense of achievement.
Tickets must be booked in advance and cost £30 per person.
What's included?
A small group atmosphere (max. 6 participants per leader)
Fully guided walk with a professional and knowledgeable Mountain Leader.
Full details of what to wear / bring and where to meet.
An Abigail's Trails Scale Trails Certificate upon completion.
Children over the age of 12 welcome, with an accompanying adult.
Sorry, for safety reasons, it is not recommended that dogs come on this one.
Please note, the route is dependent on weather. If deemed too treacherous to climb the ridge, we may ascend Blencathra using a different route.
Please arrange your own transport and accommodation, if required. We recommend having insurance to cover, at a minimum: cancellation and curtailment; medical and emergency expenses (including repatriation); personal accident; injury and death.
