Blake Ballard's Solo Show Opening - "Ceremonials"

Ceremonials is the debut solo show of artist Blake Ballard (he/him). Sharing a new body of work, this show asks the viewers to define what success looks like in an era of pageantry and shifting social climates. With ribbon rosettes, altered trophies, and large-scale sculpture, Ballard creates an 'award show for the end of the world' calling attention to the nefarious actors of our current zeitgeist and critiquing the values we prioritize.
Blake Ballard is an artist and educator from rural Nebraska, the original lands of the Pawnee people. He has presented work internationally in group and semi-solo exhibitions including at The Vicki Myhren Gallery in Denver, Colorado; The Robert Hillestad Textile Gallery in Lincoln, Nebraska; The Institute of Contemporary Art Singapore; The Glue Factory in Glasgow, Scotland; and ICAT at HFBK Hamburg, Germany.
