This expansive, multilingual collection unfolds as a sonic archive of longing, belonging, and becoming. Anchored in the sacredness of place, diasporic grief, and mystical remembrance, the poems move through ecological resonance, spiritual inheritance, and intergenerational healing.
On November 8th, Ruby Singh brings the collection to life at LOBE Studio (7pm & 9pm) in an immersive multimedia performance with celebrated poet Hari Alluri and the musical gifts of PIU. Together they merge poetry, sound, and projections within one of Vancouver’s most innovative spatial sound environments.
Structured around the formal and emotional scaffolding of Indian classical music—ascending (Arohi), descending (Avroh), breaking open (Jhala), and collapsing into silence (Khali)—the evening becomes a living extension of the book itself. Each section resonates as a note, a blade, a wound, and a prayer.
This launch is an invocation: a speculative map through which the past sings into the future, always with us, all ways a part of us.
