Learn the art and skills of blacksmithing at the picturesque Hagood Mill Historic Site!About this Event
Ready to forge your way into a new skill? Join us on Saturday, January 4, 2024, from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM, for an Introduction to Blacksmithing class with Kevin Thompson of Electric City Forge!
🛠️ What You'll Learn:
- The five basic techniques of blacksmithing: drawing out, tapering, bending, scrolling, and twisting steel.
- Basic finishing techniques, shop safety, and the history of blacksmithing.
- How to build, maintain, and use a coal fire.
- Create items like s-hooks and wall hooks to take home!
Details:
- 🕘 Class: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM (with a one-hour lunch break to explore the site).
- 💵 Cost: $125 per student + $10 materials fee (due to the instructor).
- 👥 Class Size: Min. 4, Max. 6 students.
- 🔒 Advanced registration required by December 28, 2023.
What to Bring:
- Closed-toed shoes, long pants, long-sleeved shirt, safety glasses, and a water bottle.
